If you go down to the woods today...

Hi guys!

Spring is well underway and it has been gorgeous here in Belgium!

The other day, I finished work early and took Harry out for a longer walk (Belle had been running around in the garden so didn't need walking). I decided to take him to the woods next to where I live: best decision ever.

It was beautiful - everything was green, it was just the right temperature and there was no one there. I even spent five minutes just sitting on a swing made out of a log and some string just enjoying the singing birds and the blissful temperature. I only managed five minutes though because Harry had other ideas and seemed very confused as to why we had stopped walking!

It was really nice to just relax and appreciate everything around me. We live our lives at 100 miles an hour and never take the time to just look at every detail we have around us. This half an hour walk really made me a happier person for the rest of the day and boosted my mood for the week.

Anyway, moral of the story: take the time to look at what's around you and stop, think and listen.

I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend and if you don't celebrate Easter, just a lovely weekend. I  ate lots of chocolate to celebrate!

Review: Boulevard de Beauté eyeshadow palette

Hi guys!

As promised in my Christmas haul, I'm going to review the palette I got. It's from a brand called Boulevard de Beauté which is a brand I'd never heard of so I had a quick look online.

You can buy their products off amazon and a good sized palette costs about 10€ (about £7 or 15$) so very affordable.

I got this palette which is like a double palette with each one containing 10 eyeshadows and an applicator. They're both neutral colours but one of them is more brown shades and the other is green.

The quality of these eyeshadows is really good. They're nicely pigmented, easy to work with pretty long lasting and the colours are gorgeous.

This palette is well thought out. It has a nice mix of matte and shimmery eyeshadows and no dodgy colours that you would never use. I would normally never use green eyeshadows but these ones are a really nice selection and I am going to branch out and try them because they're shades that would suit anybody.

The only complaints I would have about this palette are that you will get a little bit of fall down but nothing major and the packaging isn't great. It looks quite nice and expensive and you do get two pretty big mirrors with them but the lid doesn't close properly on the top bit of mine and it's quite hard to open on the other one. But for the price, I don't expect amazing packaging and these eyeshadows are worth a lot more in my opinion.

So, I think these are excellent especially if you're a young teenager or if you're just starting out in makeup but also if you want to try out a new brand or want to expand your collection! I'm already getting a lot of use out of this palette and it's got some pretty good dupes for some more expensive brands.

Bareilles nail varnish in 5078 polished princess

This is a gorgeous nail varnish. It's a rich, emerald green with shimmer and it's just perfect for spring. I'm wearing it today because it's getting slightly warmer and the sun has come out!

For an opaque finish, you need at least 2 coats. You could also wear it with one coat, I think it looks quite pretty. It's more of an olive green though.

One coat

It's dries quite quickly and it's pretty longlasting. I find these nail polishes usually last 4 to 5 days without chipping. I went to a festival last year (camping, etc.) and wore one of their nail varnishes and it lasted pretty much the full 4 days and I'd been wearing it 2 or 3 days beforehand.

2 coats

The finish is smooth and it's easy to apply, not too gloopy or too solid. It looks gorgeous on and really reminds me of the freshly cut spring grass, and the new leaves. I'm getting very excited for spring/summer now!
